Happy Late Birthday!

Wed May 6, 2009, 9:04 AM
No, I'm not dead. Life has just been handing me its usual raft of crap and I'm slowly beginning to buckle under it. I keep making plans for gallery updates and they end up by the wayside, but I'll try to be a little better in the upcoming months.

Yesterday was :iconjldragonfly:'s birthday, and so, like I did last year, I'm posting some of her newer works in hopes of attracting people to her gallery.

Here are some new ones of hers from this year that I like in particular:

Not just because he's my character. The soft shading and stark contrast between the pencils and then the color is very impressive.

Again, another impressive piece. The amount of details in this are amazing, and while the dA version can't capture them all, I especially enjoyed the color and the character's pose.

There's something about the overall composition that captures the intended theme well. Those eyes (on both the woman and the mist figure) creep me out a little...

I posed for this one. Not only is Richard from Looking for a Group awesome, the allergy attacks I had from wearing a cloth over my face turned out to be more than worth it for this final image.

My character spends a lot of time arguing with this one. My character might hate him, but he's easy on the eyes, no?

I've been told this was a quick piece, but still pretty impressive. The amount of symbolism alone is very detailed and this piece isn't getting the attention I think it deserves.

There are more in her gallery, so please go have a look!

Also, it bears making mention that JL takes commissions. If you have a character or an idea that you'd like to see rendered in her style, you can always drop her a note and ask her what her mediums and terms are. She's been needing some help lately, and commissions are a great way to assist if you like her art! :aww: These pieces are all done by hand, so, aside from the scanner or camera, technology doesn't touch these.

And to JL, again, happy birthday! :cake:

Prints might be a good way to go. Cheaper and less work, but money still coming in.

yes, but the print accounts here glean very little money- and my photo quality is not high enough. :/
